WESTconsin Seeking Members for Upcoming Board of Directors Nominations

The WESTconsin Board of Directors are volunteer leaders who are elected to serve as the voice of members. As a member themselves, Directors help guide the progress of the credit union, while keeping the best interests of members front of mind.
The WESTconsin Nominating Committee is seeking dedicated, qualified members to run for the Board of Directors election at the Annual Meeting in spring 2024. If you, or someone you know, are interested in candidacy and potentially being a voice for the betterment of WESTconsin, below are the duties and qualifications needed to be considered.
Duties
The WESTconsin Board of Directors meet approximately 15 times each year and represent the credit union at various community and industry functions. Directors establish and vote on governance frameworks and policies to guide the credit union’s operations and progress. They are tasked with financial oversight to review and approve annual budgets, statements, and reports, as well as establish and monitor internal controls and risk management practices, among other responsibilities.
Qualifications
Director candidates must be a member of WESTconsin Credit Union with their membership in good standing. Candidates must attend at least two-thirds of all Board meetings each calendar year and annually sign an oath of office. Other qualifications include, but not limited to:
- Not be convicted of, or plead guilty to, a felony or misdemeanor while a Director or five years immediately before being elected
- Have no close relatives of other Directors of WESTconsin employees
- Not be a WESTconsin employee while a Director or three years immediately before being elected
- Be financially solvent and financially active in the credit union
- Hold experience in business or business acumen, or have the commitment to learn
- Not be a director, officer, employee, or agent of any other financial institution within one year of becoming or while being a Director
Candidates should be forward-thinking and have serious concern with what the credit union will be doing in five, ten, or more years ahead. They must possess good judgement and contribute to the decision-making process.
