WESTconsin Credit Union Celebrates June Dairy Month
WESTERN, WI— June Dairy Month started out as a way distribute extra milk during the warm months of summer. The commemoration was established in 1937 by grocer organizations sponsoring “National Milk Month.” By 1939, June became the official “dairy month” and is still celebrated today. For Wisconsin residents, this celebration seems to be especially significant as Wisconsin has over 9,500 licensed dairy farms and a million plus dairy cows, more per square mile than any other state.
“We know farming isn’t just a job, it is a lifestyle sustained by passion and hard work. We are happy to recognize those in our community who work on dairy farms and in the dairy industry,” says Stephanie Rasmussen, WESTconsin Credit Union Chief Experience Officer. To acknowledge our local dairy farmers and the industry, WESTconsin will have weekly giveaways throughout the month of June. To participate, please follow the WESTconsin Facebook page or visit the website at WESTconsincu.org to learn more.
WESTconsin Credit Union has been serving members since 1939, and membership is open to anyone who lives or works in the Wisconsin counties of Barron, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, St. Croix, Sawyer, Taylor, Trempealeau, and Washburn, or the Minnesota counties of Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Goodhue, Isanti, Pine, Ramsey, Wabasha, and Washington, with a $5 minimum deposit in a Membership Savings Account. Credit unions are financial institutions owned by their accountholders, and member funds are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to at least $250,000.
